News - SUCCESS Courses Launched

Convergence Office press release

Truro and Penwith College has launched a new brand of SUCCESS courses which are short university credited courses enabling sustained success.  These programmes are suitable for the unemployed who may be able to study a course free of charge and employers and employees who may receive 50% fee remission. They are designed to enhance skills and knowledge in specific topic areas. The courses cover a variety of subjects, with new courses being introduced regularly in response to demand, for example Employment Law and Human Resource Management which begin soon. The courses are intended to be practical encouraging learners to apply their newly acquired knowledge for personal and business benefit, following select courses, one-to-one coaching will be available to support this. Businesses are being encouraged to make the most of this kind of opportunity to enhance their workforce.

Project Management Student, Katherine Wright: "The atmosphere on the course is relaxed whilst challenging, enabling me to refresh and build upon my existing skills."

Individuals looking for work would also benefit from this offer, building on and gaining additional skills to become more attractive to employers.

Adele Oakes, Project Manager explained: "We are very aware of the time constraints that people are facing in the current climate, many people do not have the time to undertake a long-term course and they want a short course covering a specific area where they have identified a need.  It is also important that courses deliver tangible benefits as even though we are able to keep costs down, time is a valuable investment and people need to see a return."

Carleen Kelemen, Director of the Convergence Partnership Office for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly added: "These courses are a timely opportunity for people looking to upskill, for employers looking to increase the knowledge base of their employees and for those seeking or being forced to seek a change in direction.
It is refreshing to see a College that understands the time constraints of both individuals and businesses and who have designed courses that are user-friendly and effective."

All courses are validated by University of Plymouth and European Social Fund Convergence investment is supporting this project. For further details please call Gemma Earl on 01872 267502.

The ESF Convergence Programme has invested in the SUCCESS courses through Learning and Skills Council co-financing
