If you've ever considered writing as an occupation, then now's your chance to hear about the ebb and flow of a literary life from a veteran of the profession - Cornwall-based author and journalist, Tim Heald.
Tim's talk - entitled Writing as a Job - will take place on Thursday 25 September at 6.30pm at University College Falmouth's Woodlane Campus, and the College's Board of Governors warmly invite members of the public to join College staff at what promises to be a hugely entertaining event.
Tim's journalistic career has spanned from broadsheet to periodical, and almost everything in between. He has raced across the Atlantic on behalf of The Daily Express (where he was a star feature writer in the 60s and 70s); played Elephant Polo with Ringo Starr and Billy Connolly in Nepal for The Sunday Times; has sparred with political pundits at Punch; written the official biography of Prince Philip; and penned a plethora of novels and whodunnits that have been compared to those of Graham Green, Evelyn Waugh and P G Wodehouse.
As the UK Press Gazette recently said: "Heald can keep a bar amused for hours with countless tales of the nonsenses and nightmares of Fleet Street."
This is therefore an unmissable event for anyone who is enthralled by the machinations of the media and power of the printed word.

University College Falmouth is a founding partner in the Combined Universities in Cornwall (CUC), a unique initiative to promote regional economic regeneration through Higher Education, funded mainly by the European Union (Objective One), the South West Regional Development Agency, and the Higher Education Funding Council for England, with support from Cornwall County Council.
In April 2008, University College Falmouth merged with Dartington College of Arts to create a new institution focusing on the expansion of Falmouth's expertise in Art, Design and Media and Dartington's expertise in Choreography, Music, Theatre, Art and Writing.
The merger will pave the way for a new specialist Arts University in Cornwall in 2012, creating a Higher Education institution unique to the South West.
