Truro College welcomed a fantastic 20% increase in the number of higher education students through the doors this academic year.
The majority of new students who have signed up are from Cornwall. This is excellent news for Truro College, the University of Plymouth partnership (UPC) and for the Combined Universities in Cornwall (CUC) as it shows that Cornwall is become an exciting alternative to more traditional seats of learning.
"It is interesting that Truro is also attracting students from across the country and some from outside the UK. Our college is recognised as being one of the top colleges in the country and we hope that students will take advantage of the excellent facilities that we have here and the opportunities that are on offer to them." Commented David Walrond, Director of Curriculum and Quality.
The College offers all university levels of education including Degrees, Foundation Degrees HNDs and teaching/education programmes. This provision can lead to employment or to progression to full degrees at the University of Plymouth or other universities across the country.
This year's application procedure was simplified with Truro College now owning a UCAS institution code. This made application procedures a less complicated procedure allowing students to enjoy a Fresher's' week of entertainment. Some new courses started this year which included a Sports Degree, Silversmithing and Jewellery Degree, Archaeology Degree and a variety of subjects at Foundation Degree level.
The College has introduced a number of stimulating new courses to start next year such as Criminology and Criminal Justice, Fashion and other Foundation Degrees focusing on attractive subjects which provide students with skills and experience for the workplace or progression.
