News - T-Plan Take on Third UCP Graduate

Combined Universities in Cornwall press release

Camborne based T-Plan Ltd has welcomed an awarding winning graduate into its successful team.  Simon Dass, who won the award for Best Use of ICT at the 2007 Unlocking Cornish Potential (UCP) celebration event, is now a full-time Software Developer at the company.

Simon is the third graduate to be employed by T-Plan since it began working with UCP, which is Combined Universities in Cornwall's (CUC) graduate placement scheme, in 2005.  The company has been so pleased with the development of its first two graduates, Andy Ferris and Steve Jenkin, that it contacted UCP again in 2006 when the need for a Software Developer was identified as key to the company's continued growth.

T-Plan develops software which helps clients to manage costs, reduce business risk and regulate their test processes.  A rapidly growing business, T-Plan now works with Blue-Chip organisations, SMEs, charities and government bodies.  Simon's project with T-Plan and UCP was to assist in the development of the company's latest major software release, which is now available to the market at http://www.t-plan.com.

Charlie Wheeler, Simon's Company Supervisor, is extremely proud of Simon's achievements, "We've been really impressed by the UCP project and we're pleased to be involved with the development of graduates at a local level.  Simon has really shown what a graduate can do, with the support of the business and projects like UCP."

Since 2004 UCP has placed 226 graduates with local companies on placements which last for up to a year; focusing both on improving a specific area of the business and providing real life working experience and opportunity for the graduate. 72% of UCP graduates have been offered full time roles with their employers at the end of their projects. The scheme, which is managed by Cornwall College, has been backed by Objective One.
