2008 Highlights
Exhibitor and graduate:-
Dylan Thomas, was returning to familiar roots in search of top quality graduates, as he himself had studied at Camborne School of Mines (CSM), which is now based at Tremough.
Dylan is a Recruiter for Schlumberger- the leading provider of technical services to the oil and gas exploration and production industry -and explained how useful the fair had been from his perspective, "The graduates of CSM have a very good reputation- last year we hired three and we are actively recruiting more this year. We look for miners, geologists, computer engineers and so on. They join a three year graduate scheme, progress up through the company and can move into technical, personnel, operations management or even marketing spheres. There is a really good spectrum of people here and we will definitely be back next year."
Exhibitors:-
Paula Castillo, BBC Events Manager, attended the 2008 event, saying, "This is a very well organised event and a really helpful way for us to meet students in the South West. We have had many relevant enquiries today, particularly from those within the creative disciplines."
Sarah Trethowan, Company Director of Trac Services, "We employed our first graduate in 2005 and haven't looked back since. They have all added so much value to the business and played a significant part in our recent growth. We are delighted to be able to offer graduate level jobs in the field of science and help keep talented young people in the county. The event provides the perfect opportunity to show current undergraduates just how many great opportunities there are now for them in Cornwall."
