Effective Business Start-Up Conference

Cornwall College Business press release

New Year, new business, new growth

In the current economic climate is your new business feeling the squeeze as the credit crunch begins to bite. Has your start-up business achieved the success you hoped for?

If your business is in its first three years of trading there is support out there at the 'Effective business start-up' conference and exhibition on Tuesday 3rd February, 2pm - 6pm at Kingsley Village just off the A30 at Fraddon.

This conference is hosted by Cornwall College Business and supported by Business Link. By attending this conference it will give you a taste of what it takes to successfully start-up or grow an existing business in its early years by highlighting tips and techniques as well as advice on how to avoid common pitfalls.

Be inspired by Iain Scott, founder of Enterprise Island, the world's first enterprise resort! Iain will explore an unique and exciting way to unlock the entrepreneur in you. After starting his own business and overcoming the obstacles that all businesses are faced with, Iain ploughed ahead and in five years was supplying Harrods and select supermarkets with high quality cakes and meals. But like many entrepreneurs this wasn't enough and so Enterprise Island was born to help other entrepreneurs develop their business ideas.

You will also hear from a local business; Gwel an Mor, winners of the 'Customer focus award' and runners up of the 'New business award' at the Cornwall Business Awards 2008.

The conference will also afford you time to network with other businesses and professional experts including Business Link, Stephens Scown Solicitors and Winter Rule helping you to gain practical advice and information for you to start-up or  grow your business.

This conference is the second in a series providing management skills for business. The conferences are tasters of degree level short courses, aimed at business owners and middle to senior managers, offering a flexible way to update their skills.

John Latham, Principal of Cornwall College said; "In this current economic climate businesses must work smarter, conferences like this 'Effective business start-up', offers quality speakers and industry professionals who can really help businesses focus and plan for the future."
