PURE ENERGY PROFESSIONALS

Pure Energy Professionals Ltd (PEP) is a progressive, privately owned company based in Helston, founded and run by husband and wife team, Bruce and Fiona Woodman, which specialises in the development, financing and deployment of Renewable Energy (RE) and advises investors and other renewables companies about all aspects of the rapidly expanding RE industry.

They are one of a number of businesses who have received crucial funding from the Cornwall Research Fund which is administered by The Combined Universities in Cornwall (CUC) Business Development Team and supported by Objective One with the aim of enabling research to encourage economic success in the region.

It can be difficult for small private companies to secure the external financial support which can be essential to their competitiveness and professionalism within the market place. As one of the founding members, Fiona Woodman, explains, "We have extensive global experience in the Renewable Energy sector and have successfully partnered small developers and international companies alike, but the sector is evolving very quickly and we have to be at the forefront of the latest technology, procedures and legislation in order to be the most successful company we can be. The Cornwall Research Fund enabled us to take on a specialist analyst whose report ensured that we can continue to make the most appropriate decisions and deliver the very best advice for our clients."

The investment funded a three month project undertaken on behalf of PEP by Daniel Letch, a Renewable Energy degree student from the University of Exeter's Camborne School of Mines- also a partner in the CUC initiative. Daniel compiled and collated detailed information about the RE sector in Europe, to provide an understanding of the ways in which different countries were meeting their obligations under the Kyoto protocol and the incentives, legislation and feasibilities relating to Renewable Energy within the EU.

Managing Director of PEP, Bruce Woodman comments on the success of the scheme, "The Cornwall Research Fund has enabled us to access an analyst to identify and understand new markets and to enable us to create fresh products for our expanding list of customers. It helps to reinforce Cornwall's position as a knowledge centre in the Renewable Energy industry."

On completing his degree, Daniel joined a sister company, Green Peninsula, based in St Austell, developing new wind farm sites.

CUC Business Development Manager Peter Castell is delighted with the success of the project, "Not only did this project make it possible for PEP to utilise specialist research skills and knowledge to expand their business. It also allowed a student to gain experience in a real situation and was an introduction which ultimately led to full time employment with outstanding prospects."
