In late 2009, Combined Universities in Cornwall commissioned an independent study to test understanding and awareness of higher education in Cornwall. The study was undertaken by the University of Plymouth's Socio Economic Research and Intelligence Observatory (SERIO) and involved street surveys of local people, an online survey of businesses and telephone interviews with teachers and careers advisors, business support providers and key decision makers. The report shows a generally high level of support for the expansion of higher education in Cornwall but also highlights some specific areas that CUC needs to address, including a need to explain higher education's services for business more effectively.
